- PCI product range launched in Australia by BASF
- High-performance tile grouts, adhesives and mortars used in Gold Coast Airport redevelopment
- PCI professional range builds on international reputation
Coolangatta, Queensland - August 16, 2010 - The PCI professional range of tile grouts, tile adhesives, mortars and waterproofing products from BASF has got off to a 'flying start' in Australia, with a number of PCI products used in the multi-million dollar Gold Coast Airport redevelopment in South-east Queensland.
Speaking about the Australian launch of PCI products, Barry Parker, Business Development Manager for PCI Tiling Systems in Australia, said: "We want to duplicate the international success of the PCI range of products here in Australia. And there's no better place to demonstrate their reliability and performance than the Gold Coast Airport, where more than two million passengers walk on the floors every year."
Developed and manufactured in Germany, and distributed exclusively by BASF Construction Chemicals, PCI products have gained an enviable reputation for performance and quality, and have been widely considered as 'the product of choice' for tiling professionals throughout Europe, Asia and the USA for over 10 years. Indeed, PCI products feature in literally thousands of projects both large and small, including many high profile major projects across the globe.
Not surprisingly, PCI products look to repeat this international success in Australia, following their introduction to the Australian marketplace earlier this year, and their selection for the Gold Coast Airport redevelopment by leading Australian commercial tiling specialists Ceramic Solutions (Australia) Pty Ltd.
Speaking about their choice of PCI products for the airport project, Oliver Huss, Managing Director with Ceramic Solutions commented:
"For us, our primary consideration has always been quality. To achieve the best quality outcome, you need to use the best quality materials - it's as simple as that".
"PCI's range of grouts, adhesives and mortars are the perfect accompaniment to our range of high quality European Agrob-Buchtal tiles. They're reliable products that are easy to use and they deliver consistent, high quality results that look good and perform well," Oliver Huss added.
Servicing South-east Queensland's popular Gold Coast region, the Gold Coast Airport is Australia's fastest growing airport and the nation's 7th busiest, with over 5 million passengers passing through the terminal each year.
Costing some $100 million, the Gold Coast Airport Terminal Redevelopment Project has seen the terminal more than double in size (to almost 29,000m2), with the addition of a new international terminal, additional retail, duty-free and food/beverage outlets, and expanded domestic check-in, arrivals and departure facilities. As part of the redevelopment, Ceramic Solutions was awarded the contract to provide and lay tiles throughout more than 13,750m2 of the new terminal. The project uses 600mm x 300mm slip resistant ceramic tiles from Agrob-Buctal's 'stoneware' range in cream and mocha colours.
Ceramic Solutions selected a number of PCI products for the project, including PCI Nanoflott® - a high-performance universal flowable adhesive which levels uneven surfaces and provides practically void-free laying of large format tiles - and PCI Rapidflott®, a fast-acting flowable mortar, which is walkable and groutable after only 3 hours.
Developed with a focus on quality and efficiency, both PCI Nanoflott® and PCI Rapidflott® also eliminate the need for the combined buttering/floating method of tiling. This not only results in a reduction in the amount of adhesive required; it also delivers a significant improvement in tiling efficience and productivity, with no back-buttering of the tiles required during laying.
Ceramic Solutions also selected PCI Durafug® NT cementitious joint grout in a grey colour for the airport floors and PCI Nanofug® universal flexible joint grout (in white) for the wall tiling.
"We're extremely happy with the PCI products. They're delivering the high quality results that we need and, perhaps most importantly, we're confident that they'll keep on performing for years to come," Oliver Huss concluded.
